THE HARVEST TABLE

Each harvest season, the cellar welcomes interns from South Africa and abroad. The cellar is a literal hive of activity and a meeting place for many whose passion is aligned with that of the Almenkerk winemaking team – to make excellent wines, classic and fruity, flavours and nuances of the appellation celebrated. At lunchtime the team gathers around a table to share a meal, stories and highlights of the day. A convergence of language, culture and enthusiasm for wine – the owning family’s love for people and travel giving expression in these moments. There are exchanges of knowledge, banter and information – the conversation is always flowing and everyone is engaged. Joris and Natalie’s extended families often visit during the harvest – and their mothers in particular busy themselves in the day’s events, the table preparations and instructing the team. There is camaraderie and connection – everyone is celebrated in the Almenkerk community.
